Take a tour through the Carrick Hill Wall Gallery and get to know the stories behind our current Exhibition, Northern Lights, which brings to the fore some of the lesser known stars of the vast Carrick Hill art collection.

Featured are European artworks from the Northern Renaissance to 1960s Danish design, and artistic émigrés from Austria to Latvia. Some of the paintings, pictures and decorative arts were bequeathed to Ursula Hayward from her family, the Barr Smith’s, and hang amongst the Hayward’s personal collection amassed during their 35 years of marriage (and collecting artworks).

This exhibition is curated from the Carrick Hill collection, of which approximately 80%  is on display in the house – most were a gift to the people of South Australia by the Haywards plus later additions to the collection.

Northern Lights exhibition is open now until 30th June 2022
