The drawing room was the scene of many parties. Partygoers included actors Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, concert pianist Claudio Arrau, dancers from international ballet companies, the art critic Sir Kenneth Clark, painters Jeffrey Smart and Sir Russell Drysdale, and countless others. A group of fellow jazz lovers often played at Carrick Hill, with Sir Edward on drums.
