Carrick Hill is excited to host Adelaide Central School of Art for En Plein Air Painting.
Join artist Gemma Rose Brook for a day of plein air painting at the historic grounds of Carrick Hill on Kaurna Land. Enjoy a relaxed and supported creative environment for the day as you explore the art of plein air painting, surrounded by the lush gardens and historic architecture. This immersive workshop will take you through the techniques and methods of working on site to create your unique landscape in response to the surroundings, while also allowing sometime for you to explore the grounds, enjoy a coffee at rossezzle among likeminded peers interested in painting from nature. Suitable for medium to advanced still levels.
Gemma Rose Brook graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2019. Gemma has been a finalist in the Paddington art prize, the National Emerging art prize, The Heysen Prize for landscape, the Fleurieu Biennale, the Elaine Birmingham National Watercolour prize at QAGOMA, Gallery M prize and won first prize at the 2020 RASASA YouthScape prize. Gemma received further professional development opportunities with Carclew, The prestigious Country Arts SA POP residency, A fellowship residency in Sydney and short course at the National Arts School, mentoring by well renowned painter Tom Carment and has recently returned from Italy where she completed a residency at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia during the Venice Biennale. Her work has been extensively exhibited and collected nationally.
