Carrick Hill is pleased to host Adelaide Central School of Arts for an incredible embroidery masterclass as part of our program for Morris and Co | An Adelaide Obsession.
Dr Sera Waters will be running a 2-day masterclass on Monday14 and Tuesday 15 April, 9.30am-4.30pm. The course is $365 with materials supplied.
This course focuses on May Morris, an early feminist designer and artist who used embroidery to make a difference amidst growing nineteenth century industrialisation and capitalism. May Morris also ran the Morris & Co. embroidery studio from 1885, aged 23. Learning from Morris’s1893 text, Decorative Needlework, participants in this masterclass will create a small wall hanging guided by Morris’s ethos and design principles.
